>SAFDICO Pays $10.4M for 493 Carat Letseng
Legacy Diamond

The Letseng Legacy, a 493.27 carat diamond mined at the Letseng diamond mine in Lesotho, was sold to SAFDICO for $10.4 million. The DTC Sightholder is the manufacturing arm of Graff Jewellers. The winning bid reflects a price of $21,083.79 per carat.

> New Zim Bill Allows for 51% Takeover of Diamond Mines He declared it, called for it, even threatened to do it, and now, he is creating the legal framework for carrying it out: Zimbabwe’s President Mugabe is passing a law that will allow the country to grab a 51 percent stake in mines operating in the country. Not just that, the law allows the state to not pay for 25 percent.

> 16 Sightholders to be Supplied by DTC Botswana
All 16 diamond manufacturing license holders in Botswana have met the criteria for diamond supply and will become DTC Botswana Sightholders for the three year contract period, the company announced Wednesday.
