> Abazias Posts Highest Monthly Sales to Date
Online jewelry retailer Abazias Diamonds posted in August preliminary unaudited sales of $819,403 – their largest monthly sales to date. This meant an increase of 81 percent year-over-year. (October 1, 2007)

> New Tweezers Double as Diamond Weigher
The centuries old traditional diamond trade may not strike many as a natural match with hi-tech, and those hi-tech items with which we are familiar are usually found in gem labs and polishing facilities, but one firm is bringing such tools to the front desk, introducing electronic tweezers that weigh and measure the diameter of the diamond in an instant.

> De Beers Applies for New Botswana Mining License
Boteti Exploration has applied for a mining license for the AK06 deposit, situated approximately 15 km south west of Letlhakane, Botswana. Boteti is a joint venture between De Beers (66.22%), African Diamonds (28.8%) and Wati Ventures (5.4%). (October 1, 2007)
 

> Liberia President Sirleaf-Johnson to Speak at
Diamond Conference
Princess Mathilde of Belgium and H.E. Sirleaf-Johnson, president of Liberia, are scheduled to attend the gala dinner of the Antwerp Diamond Conference in October. They will be joined by musician and activist Sir Bob Geldof.

> Hong Kong Show Opens, Strong Diamond Sales
The Hong Kong Jewellery and Watch Fair opened on September 25th, with renovations of the main exhibition area underway. This sent the diamond booths to what used to be the underground parking area. Surprisingly, this proved to be a successful move. (September 25, 2007)
